MSDN News – Windows 7 around the corner?

“Update: Looks like the announcement of Windows 7’s release to manufacturing will come on July 13. TechNet and MSDN subscribers could get copies very soon after that.”

Promising news for MSDN subscribers, after receiving xp and vista free of charge and with the release of windows 7 soon theres a high chance we’ll be getting an upgrade option very soon.

Only question left is…….which version will we get???

Today I realised I’d completely forgotten Blu-Ray existed :P

A recent story on no-one buying blu-ray sparked nostalgia for the days of the great HD vs Blu war and simply put made me realise that ever since it ended I have not read 1 single story about these techs

$1.9 million fine for 24 songs, wacky RIAA at it again

Interesting news for fans of the extended fiasco that is the RIAA and their hunt for music downloaders, a recent retrial just settled against the infamous Jammie Thomas with the final verdict laying down the hefty sum of $80,000 dollars PER SONG!!! Shocking as this is almost 9 times as much as the original trials verdict of roughly $9000 a song :O

I’m pretty sure any reasonable and sane person should be able to tell that these fines are just so far beyond ridiculous!

The upside to this is that it could lead to quick revisions to the US copyright laws to refuse bullies like the RIAA the chance to ’send a message’ through the use of grossly inflated charges, glad to know the constitution is good for something!
